TikTok is facing the possible removal of music from some of the world’s biggest artists as Universal Music Group (UMG) has decided to stop licensing its music library to the platform. The situation came about after the two companies were unable to agree on a number of issues, including rewards for artists and the use of music created using artificial intelligence. If the situation doesn’t change, TikTok could lose access to music from leading artists represented by UMG as early as Wednesday, which could affect the app’s user experience and opportunities for content creators.
