YouTube Requires AI Content Labels for Transparency

YouTube has introduced new rules requiring the flagging of videos that contain realistic-looking AI-generated content. Creators must answer questions about whether the video:

  1. It shows a real person saying or doing something they didn’t actually do.
  2. Edits the footage of a real event or place.
  3. It generates a realistic scene that didn’t actually happen.

If they answer “Yes,” a label will be added to the video that says “Edited or Synthetic Content.” This update focuses on increasing transparency of content that could mislead users.
